I have tried everything to strengthen my thin, peeling, chipping nails-polish only lasts 1 day.?

You probably are washing you hands to much in harsh soaps and hot water. You should soothe your hands with lotion, rub a little amount of lotion all over your cuticles and rub it in your nails. About a day later apply 2 things of nail polish. Don't apply nail polish over the lotion, have to let it soak in. Also you can apply lotion like an hour after applying nail polish!I have tried everything to strengthen my thin, peeling, chipping nails-polish only lasts 1 day.?
Try drinking jello water it helps alot. Or you can start taking prenantal pills. These of course will take a little while to kick in but the are well worth it. I believe that ';Sally Hansen'; has nail stregtheners you can use for now. You can get them at Walgreens, CVS, or any store like that.I have tried everything to strengthen my thin, peeling, chipping nails-polish only lasts 1 day.?
Sally Hanson has a really good nail strengthener. I had the same problem and used it for a few weeks and now my nails grow great. Also something else you might try is taking a 1 a day vitamin that also will help strengthen your nails and help fight the winter season.

I have the same thing. It's the oil that is naturally in your nails.

Nothing you can buy or do at home works. I have tried it all.

Go to a nail salon and get them to put that two part stuff on your nails - the stuff they do with fake nails but just tell them to put it on your nails without the ';tips';.

For some reason if you put that stuff on your nails, nail polish will last for at least two weeks; if it is done properly.

You will have to keep going back for a ';fill'; every couple of weeks but your nails will look so much better and polish will stay on.
Just went through the same thing.

Lay off the nail polish for a while. Cut your nails.

Now - Drink more water, Yes nails need hydration, You should drink 8 glasses a day, Take a multi vitamin.

You can even take a pre natal vitamin which wil strengthen hair and nails. Use a moisturiser for hands and nails ( can get it anywhere ). If you do dishes or have to be in contact with water wear gloves. After a week or two your nails should show improved health, Then treat yourself to a manicure :)

Use tiny ammount of petroleum jelly ( Vaseline) on each nail and the cuticle. This will also help to moisturise and repair it.
Silica, before i starting taking it i was so ashamed of my nails now they are long strong i dont even have to put polish on i just buff them.it takes about 2 weeks to see a difference but its worth it when you can be proud of your hands again.Buy it from Gnc etc. It is also good for your hair and skin bonus.
Get them Professionally done and see if its not just the nail polish you are using! and if it still chips after getting them done get fake nails!
