I have long finger nails but they always peel which makes them look bad so I end up cutting them. is there anything I can do to keep them from peeling? are there any products that really stop it?

Peeling nails are usually a result of wrong nutritional habits. You should visit a dermatologist to give you some vitamins etc.
Apart from that stop painting your nails for a while and try some invisible nail strengthening product or go to a nail parlor and try a semi permanent bio gel treatment - you can have a perfect french manicure for about a month and your nails will become stronger as well!
