I have used OPI, Sally Hansen, Revlon, Even Revlon Colorstay. Any tipsIs there certain nailpolish that does not chip? I paint my nails within 1-2 days it starts to peel.?
Use a top coat; Revlon makes a good one and it's called No Chip. You should add a coat every other day. Revlon also makes a No Chip polish and an excellent base coat. My nails last for about 10 days.Is there certain nailpolish that does not chip? I paint my nails within 1-2 days it starts to peel.?
Simple answer - Barry M.
Barry M has a very high quality inexpensive range of nail polishes (in their case, paints) which last days and days.
They have their own base coat, nail hardener and top coat all in one bottle.
Barry M have won awards with the amazing quality of their highly affordable nail paints.
OPI is the best, and if it is chipping than use a top coat, because it should not be chipping
use a bottom and top coat i think the best one is the one by OPI

My nails constantly peel off and they don't grow that well and also they break easily...any good treatment?
like an at home...traditional kind of thing...My nails constantly peel off and they don't grow that well and also they break easily...any good treatment?
Soaking nails in olive oil , taking vitamin E and there's always Nutra Nails.
Good Luck!! :--0My nails constantly peel off and they don't grow that well and also they break easily...any good treatment?
get some knox gelatin and soak your hands it for about 30 mins every other day it hardens them
Someone told me to go the health food store and get some horse tail root. She said it's amazing and you will have beautiful nails. Hope it works!
I used to have that problem too. I would suggest increasing your dairy intake and using a nail strenthening treatment. Also file your nails regularly to avoid the beginning of the nail peels.
I get this once i have taken my false nails off which realy screw your nails up for a very long time... i would reccomend using a nail varnish hardner... it makes your nails less breakable and somehow makes you stop biting your nails... you will have too use it a few times before you know it works, but it realy is good and you can buy it anywhere for a reasonable price!!!
I have the exact same problem! I started rubbing a think creamy hand lotion into my nails a few times every day and that seemed to help. I can now get them to grow a bit more.
I don't have any real solution though. My problem is mine dry out really fast so I can't use polish. Hydration was the best solution I found.
yes ... stop picking your nose so much .. the boogers have added fungi to them and deteriorate the nail coating much more quickly opposed to just shooting snot rockets
It's a little pricey but its called Nailtiques. You can find it at a CVS or at drugstore.com but it is amazing. There is a formulation (I believe its #1) for brittle nails. Its a clear polish that you put on every day and it really strengthens your nails. Its so worth it!
The best thing to do is to really make sure that you use a hand lotion regularly, especially after each time you wash your hands or have them exposed to chemicals or irritants. The more moisturized and healthier your cuticles are, the healthier your nail growth will be. I also use a moisturizing nail and cuticle oil called TIPS at least once a day, which is available from various televised shopping channels or directly from askcosmetics.com.

Nail polish peeling after applying?
Ok, i paint my nails very vibrant colors. Lime green, neon orange, and/or white and black. So chipping and peeling nail polish only after a few hours or the next day is really annoying. Anyone know exactly what i can do to help this? Also i do often chip the nail polish off after about a week sometimes with my nails, is that causing my future problems? I know i work in a barn, so my nail polish takes A LOT of abuse, but even if i don't work that day, it still chips and peels. Anyone out there who can help? I even tried changing brands thinking it'd work a bit more.Nail polish peeling after applying?
OK!! what you need to do is simply buy a STRONG CLEAR coat...this will help strengthen your nails and prevent the nail polish from peeling!!!!! this works VERY well! u dont need to change brands or anything dramatic as that!
HOPE THIS HELPED!Nail polish peeling after applying?
get better nail polish and get a better top coating polish.
Them your nail polish sucks.//
apply a top coat of clear polish!
There is a opi product that is called bondaid this is a ph balancer for natural nails and it will help you a lot under the lacquer, try it and you will see.
Scrub your nails in soap and water and dry on a paper towel or clean washcloth. I have had that same problem because the surface of my nails wasn't clean enough and there were some oils on them--so the polish didn't really stick. After you wipe your nails be really careful to keep them clean as you apply your polish, then let dry completely, and keeping that same surface clean apply a clear top coat. Plus, make sure the top coat is a good brand, like Sally Hansen. That should help out a lot.
You also may want to consider getting some gloves for your barn work if it's getting really annoying. (:
well it doesnt do a lot to yur nail to pick nail polish about the chipping i think its just because most little girls use that and the makers think it doesnt need to last long

My nails peel and break all the time!?
This has been going on for about a year...my nails peel, they seem weak, and they sometimes break.I have used sally hansen's ';strong nails now'; and that didn't seem to work.I'm not wearing any nail polish. What's going on and what products or any others problem-solvers seem to work?HELP!Oh and if you need to know, I am 13 years old.My nails peel and break all the time!?
I'm 13, too, and have the same problem. I find drinking a lot of milk helps, because of the calcium, and Opi's nail strengtheners really work.My nails peel and break all the time!?
hey, im 12 and i have the same problem, well i have this friend who's really pixie like and wears fashion cloathes and all that, and she does my nails even if i tell her dont but she still does and so, nail polish goes on and off my nails and it started to peel and so i told her to give my nails a rest and it went back to normal, you just need to take care of your nails.

Has anyone try the new product from Avon peel on nails?
I have tried them. Really easy to put on, but they only lasted 3 days and they stared peeling :-/Has anyone try the new product from Avon peel on nails?
Yes, I liked them, but for the price and the few days they lasted I would rather just stick to old fashioned polishing. They were easy to use, and very shiny too. I will probably buy them again in the future.Has anyone try the new product from Avon peel on nails?
no. but I got them and will soon. I hope they work as good as they say they do. have you?
Yes, I have and they're great. They can last a long time, depending on how much stuff you put your nails through. Always put them on clean nails, and remove with nail polish remover. They're fun, like playing with stickers. Call your Avon rep for a free sample or a free trial (some will do that for you). Have fun. %26lt;*)))%26gt;%26lt;
I haven't, but I've been thinking about it. Nice to know it sounds like they work!
I actually have. They work good. peel off easy too.

My Nails always peel what household product(s) can I use to strengthen them??
I play softball like 24/7 and i do use clear nail polish but they always peel EVERY DAY what can I do to stregthen them??My Nails always peel what household product(s) can I use to strengthen them??
Eat jello. My Nails always peel what household product(s) can I use to strengthen them??
prenatal vitamins... they make ur hair and nails grow. get them over the counter next to reg vitamins
drink more milk, take vitamens!
my mother always said eating gelatin (ie Jello) would strengthen your nails. otherwise i would try a product you can buy at the pharmacy. Sally Hansen makes a couple different options. Personally, I would just try to keep your nails short and skip the nail polish- it will dry out your nails.
eat jello and make sure you are getting plenty of calcium and zinc
Knox Gelatin
or
Brush on nail fiber then clear polish over top
veggie oil on them every noght! It works great!!
buy Jojoba oil and rub it into your nails every day - (best at night before going to bed) and also see that you get lots of calcium - (drink a glass of milk daily) . You also need vitamin E. Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin meaning if you eat carrot salad for instance, which contains vitamin E - you have to add oil so as to be able to absorb it...
Hope this helps
p.s. make sure you wear gloves when you work with cleaning liquids... they tend to dry out your nails too

Go to this website. The Sally Hansen Miracle Cure nail hardner or the Diamond Strenght Premium Nail Hardener work really well. Good Luck!
P.S. You answered to my question about using the Clearasil Acne Mousiturizer (u can check my questions) and you said it took long, I was just wondering: How long? 3 weeks? A month? Two?? Thanks so much. I guess you can just reanswer to that question or i think I have my email posted on my pages: it's simpletruth2191@yahoo.com
Thanks soo much! I'd appreciate this A LOT!!!

How come when my nails reach a certain length they split or peel?? I take Biotin.?
I take 1500 mg of biotin a day. I have noticed that they grow but still not strong enough.. they bend and split and peel. How come when my nails reach a certain length they split or peel?? I take Biotin.?
Keep doing what your doing. Plus use a nail polish called Sally Hanson's Hard as nails. It will help strengthen your nails. How come when my nails reach a certain length they split or peel?? I take Biotin.?
Ugh... I would like to know the same thing. My nails are weak like that, and I too take supplements for it but they do not seem to work :o(
Eat a lot of cabbage and garlic. Also, this does work, tap your nails on a hard surface while you can, (watching TV) do this when you're alone, the noise is aggravating to those around you. Cut out dairy and chocolate because contrary to beliefs, these products rob the body of calcium. Good Luck!

OPI polish lasts at least twice as long as any cheap brands. I can usually go 2 wks without a mani.
The best method I've found is using Sally Hansen Maximum Adhesion Base Coat and Sally Hansen Acrylic Top Coat -- I used these products when I got married, and my nail polish still looked great after 8 days of decorating the church and swimming in the ocean on my honeymoon! So that is good enough for me ... my nails grow so fast that if I don't paint them every week, there is a gap of unpainted nail near my cuticle that looks bad! But these two products are the only things I've found at drugstore prices that make my polish last all week! And it doesn't even matter what brand of polish I wear, as long as I use this top coat and base coat, it will last!
Buy a long lasting good quality nail polish or failing that firstly apply a base coat, then when you have applied your chosen colour, apply a coat of clear nail polish.
Get a higher quality nail polish use a base and top coat
if you do things like wash alotof dishes tap your nails on the table you probably cant prevent it
put on a top coat. my favorite is from OPI.Fish

My black nail polish keeps peeling off really fast. any reccomedations???
My tips:
1) First, make sure your hands are clean. Wash in soapy water then trim, file, buff - do whatever you need to.
2) Moisturise. Push cuticles back if you want.
3) Dry hands
4) Then apply one coat of your black nail polish
5) Allow coat to dry completely
6) Apply second coat
This should stop it from peeling off heaps fast. If it doesnt - try looking at buying another brand of nail polish! Some brands just don't last long.My black nail polish keeps peeling off really fast. any reccomedations???
Also, you need to make sure that your nails do not have any natural oils or lotion on them, which stops the polish from bonding well to the nail surface. You can even use a light application of nail polish remover to make sure your nails are clean and don't have any oils on their surface. My black nail polish keeps peeling off really fast. any reccomedations???
this works best. try a THIN clear coat, allow to dry. Then apply thin coats of your black nail polish allowing each to completely dry until desired appearance is achieved. You could also try using a thin coat of super glue on top of your black nail polish...lasts a long time.
buff nails first, then apply an undercoat so the polish sticks better. use your polish %26amp; then apply a top coat. you can apply topcoats daily as needed. %26amp; it may be that the nail polish is ';cheap.'; maybelline is not expensive %26amp; i find it stays on almost a week!
if you have a sallys around they sell stuff called sticky it's a natural nail base coat.also a top coat.
Mine used to do that too...try a clear coat over the black..should make it last longer. That's what worked for me.
put 3 coats
2 black
1 clear

My nail polish keeps peeling off (in one piece not little flakes).?
By peeling off like completely. It comes off altogether, not in like little flakes or wearing off. It's like dry and then all of a sudden, if I brush up against something, it doesn't just smear or something it completely lifts off.My nail polish keeps peeling off (in one piece not little flakes).?
It likely is that your nail polish is getting old, or the quality is very poor.
I have a few polishes that come off very easily, even if I rubbed my nails against my pants or something.
I would try a top coat, or purchase better quality brands. My nail polish keeps peeling off (in one piece not little flakes).?
u might be putting it on to thick. My guess is that you aren't waiting long enough for your polish to dry. Try putting it on at night while your watching a movie. put a base coat on, wait for five minutes. put your color on. wait 15-30 min, put second coat on. wait for 20 min and put a clear coat on top. Wait 30 min - 1 hr b4 you do anything else. if worse comes 2 worse get new polish
Its cheap nail polish, try a different brand.
OPI is good but a little more expensive, also e.l.f. nail polish (online or big lots) is only a dollar and NEVER peels off!
good luck :)
hmm then it probably is not a very good nail polish. i had one like that, and i dont use it anymore because it did that. try sally hansen or something
You put too much on and didn't let it dry properly.
It happens to me all the time. Just put two layers on and let the first one dry completely.
XXX
first apply a base coat
Then two layers of nail polish (not too thick)
Then put on a layer of top coat
And make sure you have quality polish, not the cheap kind
Good Luck!
Try a different kind of nail polish or try putting on a clear coat on top.
UMMMMM try a base a coat or OPI chip skip.

try washing your hands before you paint your nails.

Problem with nail extensions peeling off?
I had some nail extensions done about a week ago, and although they looked nice to begin with, this week they look awful and they are peeling off, i have had 3 peel off so far leaving no residue on my nails.is there any reason for this? the same thing happened the last time i had them done at this salon and only had them on 2 weeks!!
I haven't used any nail polish, and have been wearing gloves when washing up etc.Problem with nail extensions peeling off?
Nails shouldnt just peel off! artificial nails should withstand lots of stuff cleaning included.
If they have peeled off all in one this means they havent been etched properly you know where they roughen it up b4 they apply the acrylic. Either that or they havent applied primer but even without that they should still stick.
I think you should go back and complain or go to another salon.
I do lots with mine i use creams clean with bleach i use them as tools opening cans and that lol.
xProblem with nail extensions peeling off?
There might have been dust or oil residue under the extension before it was put on, but to be honest they will start looking bit rough at about ten days anyway. 10-14 days you will definatley need mantinance/balance/infill whatever you want to call it.
Sounds like you have been doing the right thing with gloves, but remember when you are in the bath, shampoo, and cream you use will effect the nails.
My nail extensions last me beautifully for around 3months. Infills are usually needed but to be on the cheap side I just paing over with a clear ridge filler and it works a treat!
Change the place you get them done..!
It sounds like the salon isn't applying them right. Or you have an extraordinarly oil nail bed that is pushing them off. That is very unlikely though. I would return to the salon and complain. Maybe the technician is forgetting an important step. If, you're looking for a nice polish to take with you next time you get a mani or pedi checkout Kolibre Cosmetics. They have really pretty colors.

Hi do you have your hands in water a lot? Sounds as if they are over exposed to water or cold or chemicals. Also B vitamin deficiency or Biotin deficiency. Massage a little almond or olive oil into them regularly and try not to pick at the flakes as you will just thin the nail more. The massage will also stimulate the circulation and the increased blood supply will feed the nail plate. Good luck.Nail skin is peeling can u expalin what because of it?
may be come vitamin-c deficiency.
Consult your doctor for supplements
Better to take milk , milk products along with green leafy vegetables.
don't know whether you have habbit of nail biting if so try to stop that.
don't worry but don't neglect

My nails PEEL? what causes this?
ok at the tips my nails will literally peel, not entirly off but a little latyer of nail with peel off and it makes my nails gross and not healthy and weak and bleh.
how can i prevent this and why does it do this?
thanksMy nails PEEL? what causes this?
Oh, I can't STAND that feeling! My nails used to do that when I was a kid, or they still do it now when I wear acrylics for months and eventually take them off. It's such a yucky feeling isn't it?
Anyway, taking Calcium helps this. And Vitamin E pills. It just does it because you have weak nails due to not taking your vitamins or doing too many acrylic manicures. I think that's why, anyways. But if you make sure to eat healthy and take vitamins, it should get better. It's worked for me in the past to simply take Vitamin E pills, so I hope all ends up well for you too. =)Fish

I eat my dandruff, any type of scabs, peeling skin off my body, dirt under my nails and I can't stop.?
I love doing it.
I understand it's disgusting/gross/blablabla, so if you're going to post here saying that, I already know.
I'm just wondering if anyone has an actual answer as to why I do this. I've never thought it was a big deal, ever. But now it's got me thinking. If I randomly scratch my head or back or pick a scab in public, it kills me not to be able to eat it. I don't know why. I've been doing it forever. Anyone with an actual helpful answer, please help. If not, don't bother.I eat my dandruff, any type of scabs, peeling skin off my body, dirt under my nails and I can't stop.?
No offence ... but hold on for a minute while I throw up..... blah, yuck, puke ........
I am curious if you did this as a child ?...AND... if so did your parents try to help you with this ? If no... time to get yourself a good therapist ... seriously :)I eat my dandruff, any type of scabs, peeling skin off my body, dirt under my nails and I can't stop.?
It's an actual psychological disorder. Obviously it's not a life threatening thing, but it could be embarassing for you in public. Talk to a psychologist, as cognitive or other types of therapy should be able to help.
it is a form of cannibalism
and thanks for that i just chucked up my lunch, positively gross
why not try eating the goo that comes from the corner of your eyes to

I just peeled fake nails off and i wanna know how to make them normal...fast!?
ughh, it's driving me crazy
i'll never spend 30$ on getting my nails done just so they can be ruined right afterwards!
grrrr.
any tips??I just peeled fake nails off and i wanna know how to make them normal...fast!?
If you have already taken the nails off, buff the nail plate gently to remove any glue or acrylic that may still be on the nail. If you want them to grow fast, take zinc tablets and vitamin E, this will make them grow really fast. Rub a cuticle cream or oil on the cuticle to promote growth or get regular manicures. If you are looking for the strength back, use Revitanail - Unless they are really thin, then the formaldahyde in the product will make them hurt.
Hope this helps

I agree with you, i hate the fake nail effect afterwards! for me, i used nail polish remover with acetone..soak them in it for 30 minutes and you will look better with your nails
soak them in warm water for a couple minutes to soften them up, then buff them gently with a buffer (not a nail file) to get rid of the ridges. then polish them with a clear strengthening top coat
nail polish remover with acetone in it... or very hot water.... soak your nails in it

Does hot water make nail polish peel off the nails?
I don't think so..but constant hand washing will do...Does hot water make nail polish peel off the nails?
It does for me.
It's because my nails are paper thin. It gets soft from the hot water, and then the polish starts to lift.
That's why I don't bother with them anymore. Gels are the way to go for me ;)Does hot water make nail polish peel off the nails?
I think yes. Whenever I shower, I try to make it quick or my nail polish peels. But I do my nails about every 3 days so they don't have the time to wear out and then peel when I take a long steamy shower.
It softens it if you have your nails in hot water for a certain amount of time. And then if you were to purposely scratch it off, then yeah.
the hot water can soften up the polish, and make it more prone to chipping. but cant peel it off srry
no nail polish remover or paint fresh layer and get a wet cotton ball and wipe off within 5-10sec maybe less
uhm no
that is only if you want to take your fake nails off
Probably not. If you want them to, you should get nail polish remover.

I have a bad habit...I scratch my thumbs with my own nails so it's like I'm peeling off my skin...?
I really want to stop cuz my thumbs look horrible but I cant, I tried putting band aids but i still rip those off...please anyone, any ideas? or anyone doing the same thing?I have a bad habit...I scratch my thumbs with my own nails so it's like I'm peeling off my skin...?
It sounds like an impulse control problem, called skin picking. It is very similar to trichotillomania or compulsive hair pulling.
If it is becoming bothersome for you or affecting your ability to go about your daily life, you should look into medication and/or therapy. For medication, they often prescribe medications that are also prescribed for obsessive-compulsive disorder. Your scratching is a compulsive behavior that you cannot control, isn't it? But improvement is better if you combine medication with therapy. Behavioral techniques are supposed to be very helpful. Behavioral therapy may include:
Habit Reversal Training (HRT), a four-step process which teaches you awareness of your habits, how to relax, how to breathe and center yourself, and to perform a competing and opposing muscle response.
Stimulus Control, a behavioral treatment that seeks to help sufferers first identify, and then eliminate, avoid, or change the particular activities, environmental factors, mood states, or circumstances that have become associated with, and that trigger picking. The goal here, is to consciously control these triggers that lead to the undesirable behaviors, and to create new non-destructive behaviors.I have a bad habit...I scratch my thumbs with my own nails so it's like I'm peeling off my skin...?
One thing don't cut your nails too short because you can get a infection. Just cut the white parts off your nails! Use lotion for your hands so they are not dry. Hope that helps!
You are pretty! You are Smart! You are as good as any human being on this planet! Now stop scratching your thumbs! Masturbate and or have sex every now and then for goodness sakes!
I scratch the skin around the nail. It's annoying and it hurts, but its by habit.
Eww cut your nails to the point where they have no length and then there willk be nothing to scratch them. Wear gloves. Get your nails done and the acrylic they use is blunt after they are filled to there would be no sharpe ends.
Wear gloves. See a hypnotherapist, or get counselling.

Sally hansen hard as nails you can find it at walmart or any store really. I have weak nails too and find this works really well. Sally also makes a growth formula too.

it's supposed to be good for your skin, hair, nails, and many other things.
amen to the sally hansen hard as nails. I swear by that stuff! Alternatively, try massaging almond oil into your nails before bedtime - works a treat!

Any good non-peeling nail polishes?
I've been painting my nails since I was a kid and always used cheap nail polishes and they didn't peel but now I'm looking to use some better quality polishes. I'm not fond of Sally at all. I just bought 2 bottles, and painted them, and now they're already peeling. I'm very hands on with everything (I'm a nanny) so I need something tough! Any idea?Any good non-peeling nail polishes?

On both my smallest toes, the nails are peeling. I have never had this prolem before. I am not having problems with any other nails, just my two pinky toes. Why would the nails be peeling?
I really don't want to go to a doctor - does anyone have advice on how to fix the peeling? Why is my toe nail peeling?
get some lamisil cream over the counter at Meijer or Walmart...it is like a disease like athlete's foot that makes it do that...the stuff works. Why is my toe nail peeling?
maybe you are half banna.
It's probably a fungus. There's over the counter stuff available, ask the pharmacist. If it bothers you that much you might want to ask your doctor the next time you schedule a visit for something else.
File them and put clear nail polish on them...If that doesn't work you will have to go to the doctor.
consult doctor...

Why do I always feel the urge to peel off my eyebrows and eat them, and bite my nails?
I don't feel stressed out, because it's summer, but I have been biting my nails since 2nd grade (I'm about to go into 8th) and any attempts I have made to stop have been futile.
I always am doing both of these things without thinking about them, and, as you would imagine, the number of times that this happens raises drastically when I'm under stress. Why do I always feel the urge to peel off my eyebrows and eat them, and bite my nails?
Pulling out your eyebrows is a disorder called trichotillomania and yes it is related to and caused by the same thing as nail biting. Doctors called these behaviors impulse control disorders. Even if you are out for summer and you don't feel over stressed, you might have a natural level of anxiety that is going on 24-7 and you just don't notice it. What psychologists will do for this is give you therapy and teach you other ways of relieving anxiety that is not harmful. The eyebrow thing is something that you are going to want to get over because people with trichotillomania frequently end up with bald patches from the constant damage caused by picking out hairs. People with this disorder end up having to use makeup or cosmetic tattooing to cover the bald spots. Some people also pull hair out of their head and end up wearing wigs for the rest of their lives. Here is a link to a page that goes into detail about this behavior: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichotillo鈥?/a>Why do I always feel the urge to peel off my eyebrows and eat them, and bite my nails?

Why does skin peel on sides of nails on my fingers ?
and how can i prevent it or atleast stop it being as bad? coz its really annoying...Why does skin peel on sides of nails on my fingers ?
someone told me that when your cuticles are peeling it means you are lacking some minerals and vitamins. You may need to go see your doctor or start taking multi-vitamins.
there are also supplements for strong nails at most pharmacies. They work for cuticles too. Also get cuticle oil...i know its the skin on the sides of the nails but sometimes all you need to do is strengthen your cuticles. Hope it works out for you.Why does skin peel on sides of nails on my fingers ?
Take a general multi vitamin. Use a good hand lotion like Sally Hansen 18 Hour Protective hand creme, available at drugstores and online. Apply at least 3x per day, and really slather it on at night and then put on sleeping gloves to add extra protection.
it means you have vitamin and mineral defficiency. go see your doc.
use a good lotion.
Your hands are dry, and you can put olive oil on your hands over night.

My nails peel. What can I do to stop them?
I wear nail polish all the time and it chips off really easy!!! GRRR... How can I stop the polish from chipping and the peeling of my nails? My nails peel. What can I do to stop them?
there are kinda of polish to use to make ur nails thicker and more strong.
they are ok but the real problem is something else
if ur nails are fragile and not strong, then it means u dont get enough calcium. so a way to stop the nail peeling (in the long run and the best way) is to raise ur calcium level. DRINK MILK!!!!!!!!My nails peel. What can I do to stop them?
I experience the same problem like you last time. As you are frequently wearing nail polish, your nails are subject to lack of 'oxygen' and the drying effect of nail polish. These tends to weaken your nails.
My advise would be to let your nails be free from the use of nail polish for a few months, at least 2-3 months, and take some calcium pills or even more dairy products.
If you still like the looks of polish, try using a nail buffer or just apply a clear polish. This way, when it chips, it wouldn't be so obvious and the polish can easily last you a week. Hence you do not need to use a remover so frequently.
Try also looking for a manicure pencil that you apply on your nails to 'thicken' or 'harden' them. You may get at any malls or salons. Good luck.
take a break from the nail polish for about 3-6 weeks, and wen you push ur cuticles back put a clear coat on them and put loation on your hands every day/!!
well stop using nail polish
Sounds like you need a better bond between your nails and the polish. First off you should only remove your polish with an acetone free polish remover. This will make your nails stronger and prevent any damage.
I think a great product to prep your nails with is OPI's Chip Skip http://www.opi.com/trPremium.asp#3 it makes sure the surface of your nails is clean and oil free for the polish to adhere better.
You might even want to use a base coat for added strength. Creative makes a base coat called Stickey http://www.creativenail.com/prod_c_nail-鈥?/a> that actually feels a bit tacky after painted on.Finish with some Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat and your manicure will last for about a week.
You can get all these products from your local Ulta.
Use a top layer nail polish.
There are better options than nail polish, though. Products that make your nails shiny without drying them out and ruining them. :)
look into taking a multi-vitamin and get you some cuticle oil and rub that into your nails....stop using nail polish for a few months and get you a nail buffer and shine them up with the cuticle oil
after you polish your nails just put some clear nail polish on top of the other and you should not have any more problems
Don't work with your hands so much or you can by some clear nail polish thats ment to to harden your nails. I'm wearing some right now and it works great so go down to Albertsons, CVS or Save-On and get some.

Why does my nail polish, peel off my nails?
Nail polish ALWAYS peels off my nails. Is there a way for it to stay on better? i've tried top coats and base coats, and filing my nails before i paint them. is there anything i can do?Why does my nail polish, peel off my nails?
Buff your nails rough first. Use a good base coat like sticky by creative. If you can wait 30 minutes before each application.
Some of the nail salons, especially oriental salons still sale top coats with formaldahyde. That really helpsWhy does my nail polish, peel off my nails?
it might be the nail polish that your using! try different nail polishes, because some can be thick and some can be light and stuff, it might be coz you use your hands a lot and ur nail polish on ur nails chipp and if its ur toenails it might be because your wearing weird shoes which chipp ur toenail polish or because you use your feet alot lol! x
Hello!
Your nail beds might just be dirty. I would just use a really good base coat and top coat, be sure to apply each layer thin and not too thick.
Also a good tip is to wipe each nail down with nail polish remover or alcohol to remove any oils from your nail before applying the base coat.
OPI has very good nail products that last a lot longer than the others.
Good Luck.
you probably work a lot with your hands and if you do u cant really help it that the polish is peeling off. Just get a really good top and base coat product and try to paint them on thickly

My Nails peel really easily, how do i stop this?
when i am nervous i pick at my nails and they peel (i don't bite them)
i recently managed to peel the whole top layer of my toe off and this can't be good for the nails
what can i do to strengthen them to make the peeling harder?
is there something i can put on them or do i need to eat more say calcium? My Nails peel really easily, how do i stop this?
Try a clear nail polish, i like OPI and Hard as Nails. This will help your nails recover and keep you from damaging them any further.

I bite my nails, is this why the skin behind my cuticles peel?
I go on and off with biting my nails, but sometimes the skin on my fingers just past my cuticles starts peeling badly. What is causing this?I bite my nails, is this why the skin behind my cuticles peel?
At first, the peeling got a little worse as the top layer of the nail got ... I love what it's doing for my cuticles and nails. My hands get fairly ... It almost seems as though it is exfoliating my cuticles and leaving soft skin behind. ... my nails were stronger and I knew when I had a nail in my mouth (to bite

My dogs nails seem dry, brittle and are peeling, any reason why??
not enough nutrition... :)My dogs nails seem dry, brittle and are peeling, any reason why??
The answer to this question depends on exactly what is happening with
the nails.
If you are seeing dry nails that crumble easily when they are trimmed,
but are not sloughing off, not causing pain or other discernible problems,
then there are lots of anecdotal recommendations for treatment. I am not
aware of any studies that show that any of these things actually work, but
anecdotally they are recommended:
Gelatin administration is a common recommendation for treatment of
brittle nails. I have seen a fairly wide range of recommendations for the
amount of gelatin to give. For an 85 lbs. dog the total dosages would be 2 to 5
packages per day (Knox Gelatin (tm) is the most commonly recommended
brand name). I suspect that this is rarely helpful but haven't seen any
reports of it being harmful.
Some sources recommend supplementing biotin when nails are brittle. I
can't recall whether I have seen a study in dogs but I know that in horses
there have been studies that haven't shown much benefit for hoof care, which
should be similar. The recommended dosage is around 5mg/kg (about 200mg
for your dog) of biotin per day, if you want to try this.
Zinc supplementation helps in some dogs. The usual dosage is zinc
gluconate 5mg/kg daily. This probably only works when there is a zinc deficiency,
although some dogs just seem to need more zinc. I don't think of this
as a really common problem but we have seen at least a couple of cases of
zinc deficiency in our practice over the years.
The best bet is probably to supplement with omega n3 fatty acids. This
is usually done using fish oil (3V Capsules tm) and giving 180mg/10lbs of
body weight per day, which is a pretty high dosage. For just dry nails a
lower dosage might be helpful but for the condition discussed next you would
need the higher dosage.
If the nails are actually cracking back to the nail bed, if they are
falling off or if they are deformed, it is likely that there is a
medical cause for the problem. The most likely cause would be lupoid
onchodystrophy, followed by food allergies or other allergies,
ringworm, bacterial infections and immune mediated diseases. Except for the
ringworm and bacterial infections all of these conditions might respond to the
high end dosages of 3V Capsules. It is likely that your vet can give you
some idea of the possibility of an infectious cause following an
examination. My dogs nails seem dry, brittle and are peeling, any reason why??

How do i get my nails really strong? They always peel and crack?
Im sick and tyred of having bad nails i need some help ive try-ed everything..How do i get my nails really strong? They always peel and crack?
First drink milk everyday. One of the reasons why nails get fragile is calcium deficiency.
Massage your nails with olive oil before you sleep and let the il stay overnight. It will help to make your nail get stronger, it has helped me. My nails were just like paper, will break with anything and used to get embarrasing sometimes.
But they are better with milk and olive oil usage.
Also have a healthy diet, most of the problems occur due to improper and unhealthy food habits. How do i get my nails really strong? They always peel and crack?

Could lack of protein cause my nails and cuticles to crack and peel?
I don't eat meat like beef and chicken. I do however eat fish and seafood.
I know meat provides protein that help build and repair nails etc. But the skin around my nails are cracking and peeling is that because of protein deficiency?Could lack of protein cause my nails and cuticles to crack and peel?
You really should see your Physician to have blood work to see if you are low in protein.
If you do not eat much meat then you need to obtain your protein from other sources like beans, peas, nuts, or maybe protein powder.
Protein is really necessary for many different functions in your body so if you are low you are hurting your body. On the other hand to much protein is a strain on your kidneys and is dangerous.
My sister became a vegetarian to cure her lupus but she ate dried beans, dried peas and nuts every day for two of her meals and fish only three times a week for one meal and she stressed her kidneys. After having a simple blood test and giving a urine test they showed she had way to much protein in her body. The doctor had her lower her protein intake and her kidneys recovered.
Another thing that you might be low on is Biotin. Biotin also helps give you healthy nails as well as healthy hair.
I really think you should speak to your Physician to see if your blood levels are correct on all your vitamins, minerals and protein.Fish

How can I stop a nervous habit? (Peeling off nail polish)?
Whenever I paint my nails, I always tend to peel it off when I am bored or nervous. Please help! How can I stop a nervous habit? (Peeling off nail polish)?
Hmmm...well, it takes 21 times to break a bad habit (for your brain to break the synapses that make you have bad habits in the first place), so after 21 times of you not doing it, you should be good to go.How can I stop a nervous habit? (Peeling off nail polish)?
Stop painting your nails. If there isn't any polish, you won't have that to pick at.
Have you been a nail biter? Maybe you're substituting one bad habit for another.
Keep an emory board with you and when you're bored or nervous, manicure and spruce your nails up rather than destroying them.
You have to try and catch yourself when you are doing this. When you do catch yourself just stop and keep telling yourself not to and find something else to keep you occupied like text someone randomly or go on the computer.
instead of wearing nail polish put on fake nails. or if you want to save on money just try to stop the habit the best you can for 30 days. see how it works out and maybe you'll brake it.
i used to have a habit of biting my nails.. the way i got over it, is keeping my self occupied? you know? and not to watch scary movies (: haha.. soooo just keep busy or find a new hobby if your bored... (: hope i helped..
Where fake nails so you can't peel it off and make sure you don't start taking OFF the fake nails!
me too! well i haven't exactly solved my problem yet, but if your bored try to think of something else to entertain you like doodling or paint a clear coat on top...wont be as easy to peel off im guessing
or how bout you just get fake nails, theyll look ten times better, be glued riight on ya so theres no chance of u gettin them off as easy
Yeah, don't wear nail polish. OR just wear clear polish, that why when you peel it off it's not as obvious.
Don't put any nail polish on and then you won't have the urge to peel it off.
try not using nail polish

Yeah, don't wear nail polish. OR just wear clear polish, that why when you peel it off it's not as obvious.
Don't put any nail polish on and then you won't have the urge to peel it off.
try not using nail polish
Howcome the skin around your finger nails normally peels off, and why does it hurt so much?
Hangnails are usually caused by dry skin, although deficiency in zinc has been related to it. It hurts if you peel it off due to the numerous nerves there, and can lead to paronychia, a painful infection.Howcome the skin around your finger nails normally peels off, and why does it hurt so much?
ITS A HANGNAIL ./ YOU GET HTEM WHEN UR SKIN IS DRY
AND LIFE SUCKS.. THAST WHY HTEY HURTHowcome the skin around your finger nails normally peels off, and why does it hurt so much?
i bite mine off, but its because of dry skin at the tip. its painful because the depth of the peeling (like a papercuts) its about where the nerve endings are, moisturising should help
same with me, anyone no how 2 stop it? or like what 2 do wen u get it
mate, u've got dry skin or some vitamin deficiency, u need to drink 2 liters of water daily and take vitamins once a day, u'll see some improvement in 1 week!!

I have rough, peeling toenails and my doctor said it is a zinc deficiency. Why are my finger nails so healthy?
It may only be showing in your toenails if they aren't as well taken care of ie. moisturized etc. But if he ruled out fungus, there probably isn't much you can do. Some people are just like that.I have rough, peeling toenails and my doctor said it is a zinc deficiency. Why are my finger nails so healthy?
Your toes are farther away than your finger tips. The are more of an extremity than your fingers. Also, you use your fingers, so they get stimulated and have more blood flow.

Why can't I get my nailpolish not to chip and peel when I do my own nails at home?
Do I need primer, a certain topcoat or fake nails? Salon jobs damaged my nails so badly that I'm trying to avoid getting them done again. Why can't I get my nailpolish not to chip and peel when I do my own nails at home?
Well what i do is put on a coat of clear, then two layers of color, and a few layers of clear coats. It also helps just to have healthy nails without scratches in them and if you chew them, it chips the paint near the edge of the nail and lifts up the paint and makes it a lot easier to peel off. (I used to chew my nails. :-( Nasty habit)Why can't I get my nailpolish not to chip and peel when I do my own nails at home?
Try using polishes such as Essie, OPI or Chanel. Follow with base and top coat from the Essie brand, it works well.
Your polish is bound to chip easily, but these products work well longer.
yeah use a good topcoat or bottom coat or both
I like Sally Hansen Double Duty Base and top coat
my home mani lasted 2 weeks with this stuff, amazing and no chips!
Because for some reason only chinese ppl can do that lol other ppl can't ughhhh i widh i could do that!
Primer and a topcoat would be your best bet.
Apply a clear topcoat

My nails peel and break any advice?
I have tried one type of calcium from sallys
They didnt break as much however the peeling was still a problem
Any advice? My nails peel and break any advice?
Here are some nail tips
NEVER file your nails in a back %26amp; fourth motion, this causes your nails to split or fray. File from corner to center. You should also be sure not to use a metal file.
Try Sally Hansen's advanced hard as nails, used as a base %26amp; top coat
Use colors that have either a hardening formula or a strengthening formula. You polish remover should also have strengtheners in it.
If your hads are going to be in water or you'll be dealing with chemicals wear protective gloves.
If you need anymore help just ask or visit my forum:

Try drinking Knox Gelatin in a warm beverage. It works and I bet your mom and maybe your grandma used it.
You need to be taking a multi vitamin with calcium.
eat egg white wich is rich in calcium,,,, umm then apply a mixture of warm olive oil n lime juice [little] 2 ur nails daily
Stop wetting your nails with water as much as possible.
Everyone is different, the best thing you should do is try different products. Try one for at least a week if that doesn't work then try another one for another week until you find a nail product that works. There are so many out there now adays you should find one that works for you.
eat more protein
It's how you file and a dire lack of moisture.
Only file nails after they've been washed or soaked. Dry nails are brittle, moist nails are pliable.
File from UNDERNEATH the nail, not of the surface. This takes a lot longer and you can only file in one direction rather than seasawing.
Moisturize your cuticles multiple times a day and massage the cream from the tip of the nail back toward the first knuckle.
Wear a top coat to protect the surface of the nail.
Don't expect results for several months, until the nail entirely grows out from the nail bed.
for nail care tips:

use orange skin and scrub it,
Eat gelatin - jello- makes nails harder.
go to where you get your nail polish and there should be a clear polish called nail hardner........
wat u can do iz put on 2 coatz of clear nail polish, and let them dry then u hav to stay away from anything that will break them...hey it works for me.
Eat more carrots.
cut when it grow...
don't keep....
you can try using red nail polish overnight and remove it in the morning.

It's not tough on my nails, it just turns them orange and makes them look gross. So I just clip them.
No biggie.

Why are my nails brittle and peeling? --> can that be related to my hair loss?
For several months now, my nails have become very weak, they always peel in layer and easily break. My nails also don't grow very fast, and this hasn't happened to me before =[
Also......while all of that is going on, i've been loosing a LOT of hair recently, when i wash my hair, when i brush SOO much hair falls out!!!
And lots of strands randomly fall out throughout the day and i feel them on the back of my arm (its the most annoying feeling ever!)
I try not to wash my hair too often (but it gets oily because of the heat and my body's tendency to over secrete oils in my scalp and then i have to!)
i leave it natural almost all the time (wavy)
Can these 2 be related? What can i do to stop all of this chaos?! i'm very worried!
Extra Information:
Im 16 (thats why i'm a bit paranoid) %26gt;.%26lt;
I don't take medicine for anything but i do take vitamins (multi, calcium, b-12...)
I'm not pregnant, and all that other stuff
I try to eat healthy everyday, lots of fruits and veggies
Please help!!!!Why are my nails brittle and peeling? --%26gt; can that be related to my hair loss?
yes! it is possible....
掳anyway as we know hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.
year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:
1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;
2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;
3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;
4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);
5) also I used herbal treatment - TrichoZed
It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!
It worked and still works for me!
I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.com/?id=fc7a24
It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!
good luck!

Hi. You need to go to the doctor and have blood tests done. You could have low iron, or a Thyroid problem. Both of these can be detected in a simple blood test. The exact same thing happened to me a year ago. My nails started to peel off in layers, and became very thin and weak. Shortly after that, i started to lose a lot of hair ( it fell out constantly ). I got scared, and went to the doctor. She did blood work, and found that i had a Thyroid problem. Don't wait too long. Your body is trying to tell you something isn't right. I lost most of my hair from a Thyroid problem. It's not a fun thing to go through. Hopefully, that's not what is happening to you, but since you have 2 of the symptoms of a Thyroid problem, it's better to get checked to make sure. Best of luck to you :-)

Finger skin cracks, nails are brittle, peeling, air bubbles..?
For about half a year now My fingers have been really dry, my nails are brittle, the skin around my fingers peel, the corners of my skin by the nail cracks, air bubbles form, dead skin forms under my nail and my nail is really bumpy. I been to the doctor twice already at walk ins and they didn't even take the time to look and listen and said it was eczyma. the first doc gave me hydrocortosome or something and it didn't work so a month later i went back to see a different doctor who said it was eczyma was well and gave me a ';stronger form of hydrocortosome';. a month later it is still not better. I've used all types of lotions to try to get it to heal like aveeno and dry skin lotions. This morning i woke up with a bunch of air bubbles on my right finger that has a crack and i dont know what to do. the docs don't take their time to listen. what if its a fungus or infection? anyone heard of such thing?Finger skin cracks, nails are brittle, peeling, air bubbles..?

What causes skin peel on the fingers right below the nails?
I heard a while back that it's due to a lack of a certain vitamin in the body but I forgot which. Any idea? What causes skin peel on the fingers right below the nails?
I don;t know about the vitamin thing, I think you need to keep your hands moisterized. Use lotion on your hands regularly and work it really good around the fingernails.

The skin around my nails always look rough and hard and look like its peeling?
is there anything that will clear it upThe skin around my nails always look rough and hard and look like its peeling?
when you're just going to stay at home for a down day, or perhaps at night, put lots of petroleum jelly and wear cotton gloves and keep them on for quite some time, like two hours at the least. works best overnight.
drink lots of water, exercise all that, and always moisturise, like put lotion on, concentrating on the areas of concern, especially like after washing your hands.
best! The skin around my nails always look rough and hard and look like its peeling?
use hand/body moisturiser
lofa sponge and moisterizer
Do not lick your fingers. Do not manipulate the area. A moisturizing+ vitamin A,D cream and more relaxation is my prescription.
rub some oil on them. for a while it really really helps and then use a really good hand moistureizer like vasoline intensive care

How can I keep my finger nail polish from chipping and peeling?
I put on finger nail polish after my showers at night. The next day after I do dishs and take my shower my finger nail polish has chipped and peeled away. What should I do about this??How can I keep my finger nail polish from chipping and peeling?
First, before you do anything, shake the bottle. next, swipe nail polish remover over each nail surface. anything leftoer on nails can cause chipping, bubbleing, ect. then, shake the bottle again. apply a clear coat. let dry 1 minite. next, after shaking 2 or more times, remove the brush from bottle. swipe on edges of bottle to get unnessicary polish off (the more polish, the more chipping!). Apply 1 stroke in themiddle, then left, and right. let dry 2 minites. next, apply either a second coat (2 minitues to dry), or a clear top coat. let dry. DID YOU KNOW: even though polish may feel dry to the touch, it is not completly dry for two hours. especially with pedis, do at least 2 hours before bed. good luck, chica! be sure not to use peel-off polish. try a long-lasting kind, or maybe just a brand like revlon, CG (covergirl), or Colorama. Plus, u can use acrylics, but they weaken your nails. How can I keep my finger nail polish from chipping and peeling?
putting on a base coat and then the color and then a clear top coat will make it last longer.
if you have had it fro about 2-4 days depending how much you use yr hands you can add a clear top coat and you cna do this twice. or else it doesnt look gd it makes the polish last a couple more days i do it all the time hope i helped! :)
I have acrylic over my nails. They are short but look great and natural. Plastic sticks to plastic so nail polish will last for weeks!
you need acrylics to solev that problem thats the only fixitFish

What should i do if my nails keep breaking and peeling from the tip? does nail polish cause this?
tnx for the help^ ^What should i do if my nails keep breaking and peeling from the tip? does nail polish cause this?
Yes! Two ingredients cause it- formeldahide and torreline (spelling?). Look for products free of those. They make your nails amazingly unhealthy. Use your nail file in only one direction too. That keeps from snagging back and forth and creating loose bits that can rip up. Put on a strengthening base coat under your polish (free of the two evil things) and it should help. What should i do if my nails keep breaking and peeling from the tip? does nail polish cause this?
It sounds like you may be low in vitamins. Taking a multivitamin can help with this. I would also recommend getting in touch with your dr for further evaluation of the problem.
As for the nail polish, it shouldn't but check with your dr to be on the safe side.

Everytime i paint my nails, the nailpolish peels off the same day, what can i do to prevent this?
it only happens with my fingernails, my toes stay just fine!Everytime i paint my nails, the nailpolish peels off the same day, what can i do to prevent this?
before you put on any polish/basecoat put some nail polish remover on a cotton ball and swipe it over your nails. this will remove any oils, lotions, etc that may be on your hands and aren't washed off with soap. then put a coat of a clear basecoat, then 2 coats of polish, and finally a a topcoat to seal the color. this is what salons and nail salons do when you get a manicure.Everytime i paint my nails, the nailpolish peels off the same day, what can i do to prevent this?
Use a good quality basecoat. Don't skimp on quality because cheap ones will not work as well as the better basecoats. A clear nail polish is not the same thing as a basecoat, and will not work well as a basecoat, or as a topcoat either.
Then apply two thin coats of polish. Finish with a topcoat. Make sure your nails are free of all oils by scrubbing them with either acetone, or nail polish remover before applying the basecoat. Also, pushing back your cuticles will help to prevent peeling of the polish. It is best to start with totally clean, oil free nails.
this happens to me all the time it makes me feel like pulling my hair out of my head...from all this work i just get a peel!!??
IS IT THE NAIL BRAND?
it depends but nail polish is ';sopuse'; to be a strong paint for the body...anyways i dont buy cheap nail polish from the dollor store..but expensive polish can chip anyhow, however i have been noticeing this (LOL)
WHAT TRICK SHOULD I DO?
I have ';discovered'; clear nail polish works well but it only last 2 weeks..(pretty good!) but have you noticed in the spa the polish stays for a long time well i know why....they use this realy strong chemical or such as clear nail polish that is strong...sometimes you can ask them where to buy it sometimes they have shelves to buy things too.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANT HAVE THOSE THINGS SOMETHING A LOW PRICE!
ways to keep it for a month:
(1).put 2 coats of polish
(2). let it dry {air dry}
(3). put 3 thin layers of clear polish
(4). avoid any water activities...
MY TOES R FINE WHEN THEY GET PAINT BUT MY FINGERS JUST THROWS THEM OFF!!
haha i think you got the case of stubborn nails!! (just kidding jk!) lets get real **coughs** (^_^)
sometimes nails have hidden oils in the microscopic pores in them...sometimes people they wash heir finger WELL srub them and make them realy dry. Take a towel dry them (of course) take a blower dry ur nails some more to make them realy dry. after all that take a towel and dry ur nail again and see what happens next.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THAT DOES NOT WORK?
Take the clear nail polish and apply it on...let it dry (blow on it) and apply the color on...after you did dry {air dry} them apply a thin layer of clear and see how the difference makes your nail shimmer.
**hope this works**
well, here's what you do. you put on sevrel coats make sure you wait till the previos one dries first . then, put on a few clear coats to make you nails stronger and the nail polish will stay on longer. don't put to many cots or it will just peel off!! hope i helped!!
Be sure your clean your nails first and try Sally Hansen polish. I've found many polishes either chip, peel or rub off whenever you touch anything. Don't use more than 3 coats. Usually 2 colored coats, top with a clear coat. Good luck.
You probably have too much oil on your nails try cleaning them first with nail polish remover to remove any surface oil and be sure you are using a Nail Lacquer as opposed to polish since it adheres better and lasts longer. Good Luck!
Fist u should buy a good nail polis, the cheap ones usually always will peel or chip, also u should try putting a clear top coat over the nail polish this helps to protect the the nail polish from everyday wear and tear. Good Luck :)
Keep your nails short - it peels off because the nails on fingers flex a lot. Also use base coat and take tablets for strengthening your nails.
Put an overcoat of clear nailpolish on.
Or do several layers of your actual colour.
I read that painting your nails sideways rather than up and down helps the paint stay on longer
Try using a clear top coat
be careful of ur nails and use a base and topcoat
Use Milani. www.milani.com. They sell it at CVS. It lasts.
before you put on any polish/basecoat put some nail polish remover on a cotton ball and swipe it over your nails. this will remove any oils, lotions, etc that may be on your hands and aren't washed off with soap. then put a coat of a clear basecoat, then 2 coats of polish, and finally a a topcoat to seal the color. this is what salons and nail salons do when you get a manicure.Everytime i paint my nails, the nailpolish peels off the same day, what can i do to prevent this?
(2). let it dry {air dry}
(3). put 3 thin layers of clear polish
(4). avoid any water activities...

Peeling and flaking nails?
I am right handed and on my right hand my index and middle finger peel and flake extremely bad. Like last week my middle finger peeled all the way back to my cuticle. I have heard a number of reasons for this ranging from fungus to lack of vitamins. I want to know what the medical reason is for this happening and how can i fix it... I've tried pre natel vitamins, I've tried sally hansen triple strong, I've tried a number of other hardners as well and I just don't know what to do anymore. the rest of my nails are usually fine other than the occasional chip or crack...
Any suggestions? What is the medical reason for this happening?Peeling and flaking nails?
I'm thinking it's probably:
Onychorrhexis
Refers to Split or Brittle nails that also have a series of lengthwise ridges. It can be caused by chemicals, injury to the fingers, excessive use of cuticle solvents, nail polish removers. This condition may be corrected by softening the nails with a reconditioning treatment.
I have my nail clients use Sensitive %26amp; Peeling Nail Envy
Formaldehyde-free formula protects against peeling with antioxidant Vitamin E and Kukui Nut Oil, soothes sensitive nails with Aloe Vera.
I hope this helps you!Peeling and flaking nails?
psoriasis???
what you need is a hand and nail creme for this

carry a nail file and file instead of biting
My sister in law has always bitten her nails really bad. The only thing that keeps her from biting them is to get fake acrylic nails. They arent too expensive, and it saves her the pain. Good luck!Fish

If both acrylic and gel. nails both peel and lift after two days. Are there any types I can wear?
Both the acrylic and the gel nails lift completly from the base of my nail forward leaving only the tips attached to my nails. I love the look but my nails will not grow strong and beautiful. Any suggestions? If both acrylic and gel. nails both peel and lift after two days. Are there any types I can wear?
Well stop putting on the fake nails if you want healthy nails.
Make sure your nail tech knows that your gels or acrylics aren't staying attached. Maybe she's not using the nail dehydrator sprays? Have you tried changing nail salons to see if a different tech has better luck? It'd really be best if you just avoided fake nails and used a nail strengthener to get your nails into shape, and take vitamins (pre-natal) and calcium supplements to help.

I looked at my husbands toe nail today and it is swollen and the skin is peeling. It looks nasty but he won't go to the foot doctor any suggestions on what this could be or how I should treat it if he won't go in? It doesn't look like it is an ingrown toe nail but he doesn't take care of his feet.Husband has peeling skin around toe nail any suggestions?

Is peeling the nail polish off your fingernails bad?
i paint my nails then when they start to chip (about 1-2 days later) i just start to peel and pick it off. it leaves my nails looking like they are flakey (after a bit they get back to normal) but is that bad for your nails? Is peeling the nail polish off your fingernails bad?
Yes, it can weaken them as they tend pull thin layers of your nail off when you peel it off yourself like that.Is peeling the nail polish off your fingernails bad?
I Don't Really Know - But I Do The Exact Same Thing!!
Please don't continue this - it looks bad. If you take the time to polish your nails and put a clear coat on top they should last longer also try different brands of polish some last longer than others.
nope, i do peel mine all the time
What kind of polish are you using that PEELS off? And so soon! Because whenever I let mine get like that (after a few weeks) I have to scrape it off with my fingernails. Which has never caused me any problems my nails are still hard and pretty. :)
A little
But if you paint them tooooooo much then your nails turn yellow [ O.o ] but yea I wouldn't paint them that much %26amp;%26amp; I think you should get nail stuff to maybe not make them flakey
Is it look bad afterward? If it is, yeh. If it isn't then no.
peel your nails all you want! haha but after your done peeling try to clean it with nail polish remover, that will help your nails go back to normal.
i dunno i do that too and now you have got me wondering
I heard it takes off a very thing layer of your nail, eventually making them weaker.
Why not touch them up rather then destroy your manicure?
To keep your mani longer - use a base coat, two coats of polish and a professional top coat, something like OPI, a real good brand name top coat will keep your mani looking better longer.
to keep your mani even longer....wear rubber gloves when you do dishes, housework, etc, where your hands are getting wet.

Does anybody know of any nail formulas that will help my nails not peel?
I have tryed everything. I just stopped biting my nails (I got braces, and I had no choice) So now I have long pretty nails (they are even getting much thicker!!!) but they are peeling off in layers, what should I do?Does anybody know of any nail formulas that will help my nails not peel?
I used to bite my nails constantly, one day I just stopped. Once your nails get just over the finger, clip them with nail clippers, don't peel, clip. My nails have always been real weak and peel all the time. Once I started clipping them on a regular bacis, they are finally strong, you know how you see peoples nails and say, ';I wish my nails were that thick'; mine are finally there. Clip don't peel!!!Does anybody know of any nail formulas that will help my nails not peel?
Drink alot of milk and also take vitamins.
I'm using ';sally hansen age correct strength'; dry brittle nail care.
your nails are peeling because your body has too much calcium so cut down on the calicium
A daily multivitamin, plenty of water, and a healthy diet should help. Also give yourself a manicure and apply a nail hardening polish once a week.

Can you help me? What can I do for nails that peel easily?
Is there anything I can put on them to make them strong? I'd love to have long and strong nails :)Can you help me? What can I do for nails that peel easily?
Biotin and Sally Hansen nail polishes (like growth, stronger nails, etc)Can you help me? What can I do for nails that peel easily?
Way back I had fantastic nails, then for about three years two of them were peeling. I bought all sorts of stuff, then I discovered Sally Hansens ';Nailgrowth Miracle';. Its in a gold bottle, I put a very thin coat on every other night and tried not to remove it for about two weeks. The two iffy nails stopped peeling and I now wear Nailgrowth as a base coat under coloured nail varnish and I also use it as a top coat. If possible just touch your nail varnish up for as long as possible, remover can damage your nails.
Nail envy is really effective
you can buy it from asos
http://www.asos.com/Opi/Opi-Matte-Nail-E鈥?/a>
There are vitamins that are specially for hair and nail growth. Try them. Also, in the meantime, try the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails polish. Just apply a new coat three days. It works great!
Get a product from boots or superdrug or a shop like that. If you go into boots they do your makeup im sure they sort your nails out as well.
Eat gelatin - a jelly cube once a day will do the trick.
Sally Hansen stuff in the gold bottle - quite pricey but very very good.Fish

My nails keep peeling and breaking...what gives?
I used to have a serious issue when I was younger with biting my nails. It has just been recently (I'm 23 so for like the last 2 years) I have made a very conscience effort to not bite and really keep up with the polish to divert my habit. However, within the past 8 or so weeks my nails are constantly peeling and breaking, they have become so weak which has never been the case. Nothing really has changed, well except that I have started eating fish and chicken again after 6+ years of being a vegetarian but if anything I thought that would make them stronger. I still eat mainly the same just once or twice a week I'll have one of them in a meal. But other than that I cannot come up with a reason this sudden change in my nails has occured. I mean it's really really bad to where I have to cut my nails all the way down becuase they peel so far down. Any ideas on why this is happening? Any ideas on what I can do to stop it?
I'm anemic too if that counts for anything, have been though for 5 yearsMy nails keep peeling and breaking...what gives?
Being anaemic can have a knock on effect on things like nails, few points that might help:
Increase your calcium intake (milk, yoghurts, cheese) as nails thrive on calcium
Eat jelly cubes (straight from the pack if you can). Gelatine also contains stuff that your nails love.
Sally Hansen make an excellent product called Diamond Strength it's a clear lacquer (so immediately thickens/hardens the nail when its on) but also contains stuff that will help your nails grow stronger).
Obviously if it is pretty bad you should also ask your GP for help.My nails keep peeling and breaking...what gives?
Ur nails r probably thin and weak. Mine used to b just like that. Go to target and but the Sally Hanson Hardwrap nail polish. It comes in a little blue clearish bottle, and the nail polish is clear. just put it on, and every time it starts to chip off, put more on. Do this a 3-5 times (thats how long it took mine) and then they will stop doing that.
you can ask a doctor that the best idea :) i am sure he can hep u

My nails are peeling so bad (SAHM)?
I am 26 y.o. and changing diapers, rinsing plates, making food, and basically touching water all day - but try to do it at little as possible! I take 1 quick shower a day. And getting a dishwasher helped a lot. But the tips of my nails are peeling and the top layer of the tips has come off. If I accidentally bang a wall, etc, it will be all smashed up and I have to peel it off or it'll hang. I tried nail hardeners/strengtheners but eventually it must come off and the alcohol removers further weaken my nails. I am trying cuticle oil right now, but honestly there's a lot of damage. I will start to wear gloves while cleaning around the house.
FYI: I have sensitive skin too. I use Curel Sensitive lotion occasionally and I only use Dove soaps and shampoo/cond. And I use sensitive dish soap 2 mins a day.
Is there a solution to this problem? If so please give me a specific brand or product name so it's easier to find. I don't want to take a pill if possible. Any help will be wonderful, they feel so weak and are unsightly! My nails are peeling so bad (SAHM)?
Mine are exactly the same.
Try painting them everyday.
I always have to paint mine every single day. Anytime theres a spot without paint on it, my nail will chip and peel.

Are you Anemic? Mine do that all the time, but I think it's mostly because I bite them. Bad habit and gross, I know. But I've also been anemic in the past, so it's either one of the two.
try taking GNC hair skin and nails. its a multivitamin, and it works wonders. it made my hair shinier and fuller, and nails harder. Don't know about skin tho
Go to a manicurist. They know best.

Aside from its effects on the nail- what's so bad about toenail fungus? I like it- I like peeling off my nails
a constant fungal infection in your body will do your overall health a great deal of harm in the long run. fungus in your body is a parasite. it competes with the good bacteria that you need for the same food. namely carbohydrates. it kills the good bacteria with its wastes, called mycotoxins. these mycotoxins will cause your cholesterol to be extremely high. there are many negative health problems associated with fungal infections. i suggest you read a book called the fungus link. i have been battling this for over 30 years. it caused me to become very ill. i developed fibromyalgia, which at times was crippling. my cholesterol was 297. you must address this asap.Aside from its effects on the nail- what's so bad about toenail fungus? What causes your nails to peel?
My nails started peeling, just the top thin layer and I was wondering if this was caused by something specific. What causes your nails to peel?
Have you changed the way you eat? Nutrition can affect every part of you from your mood to the way your skin, hair, and nails look. Try taking a good multivitamin. Also if you file your nails the wrong way it can cause them to slit and peel. File them from the corner to the middle on each side and never from corner to corner or from the middle to the corner. After you file brush on a couple of coats of nail strengthener. They make colored polish with strengthener built in. But remember that polish stats to chip and peel away from natural nails in about 2 days. I hope this helps you! What causes your nails to peel?
if you have poor nutrition, like me.
your nails can either peel or be mushy at the end where the nail starts to grow
ie. they go down when you push on the nail.loose skin

Do you lose a layer of nail after peeling your nail polish off?Lose layer of nail after peeling nail polish off?
yea i normally do it made mine thiner so i had to stop peeling my nail polish off and i know it is what basically everyone does when they are either pissed off or bored (well thats what i used to do) now i used nail polish remover and my nails are back to normal!
:D good luck!Lose layer of nail after peeling nail polish off?
I do. Are you supposed to? I think you're not supposed to. Try to stop peeling off nail polish (like I did) and drink more milk.
Yeah I heard that...I think its something to do with stripping natural minerals and the moisture from your nails. What with your skin, hair and nails all being the same kind of thing. I would recommend using a hydrating clear nail polish (from boots and other chemists!)) to apply after peeling nail polish off to look after you nails! Good luck! =P

I would recommend using a hydrating clear nail polish (from boots and other chemists!)) to apply after peeling nail polish off to look after you nails! Good luck! =P
Hi I was wondering how do you stop finger nail polish from peeling?
Everytime i put on my clear polish, it peels off the next day, ecspecialy when i get in the shower. HELP.Hi I was wondering how do you stop finger nail polish from peeling?
you can always just chip it off before it has a chance to peel.
LOL. That's what my 11 yr old daughter does!
Or you could just skip showers altogether.
Just Kidding! Gee! What type of filthy girl do you think I am?Hi I was wondering how do you stop finger nail polish from peeling?
Use sally hanson's ';no chip/break'; top coat. Its in a light pink bottle with a rhinestone on it. You can find it at walmart, or walgreens. It works SO GREAT!
Two things:
1. You use a base coat which will help the polish stick to the nail in the first place and a topcoat that will help it stay.
2. You get a full set on false nails. The nailpolish will go NOWHERE!
Good luck!
Get a better brand of nail polish.
it helps to apply a top coat every other day or so...
but I think it's just the make-up of clear polishes... eventually they all seem to peel off.
Apple the color first then apple some of the clear nail hardner type. Leaves it glossy and helps to keep it from peeling.
if you put on that alcohol stuff in the clear bottle with a cotton ball and then the polish it tends to last longer.
The clear polish you are referring to might be a top coat. A normal color coat should not peel off. A top coat sticks better on top of a color coat than on plain nails.
So you can buy a color coat in pale color or those with slight shimmer will look very pretty. Check out OPI's Princesses Rule or Happy Anniversary. Guarantee no such thing as peeling off!
Another alternative is to buff shine. The shine last abt a week and the best part is no need to wait for them to dry!

How can I keep my nail polish from peeling/chipping?
I work at a small discount department store and I use my hands a lot and throughout the day my nail polish gets chipped or even just dented. So I have to re do some of my nails when I get home. I use a top coat but I was wondering if there was anything else I could do? Maybe a better top coat?
Any advice would be great. How can I keep my nail polish from peeling/chipping?
Go to your local salon and ask them what they would recommend and write down the exact name of the product. Then, unless you're feeling generous since you work at a store yourself, go to the internet to buy it cheaper. How can I keep my nail polish from peeling/chipping?
You can put 2-3 layers of your top coat maybe, use a clear nail polish over the top coat, or use a different kind of top coat/base coat. I recommend Sally Hansen products or Orly.I use a base coat and top coat in 1 by Sally Hansen and it is sold in a rectangular, small golden bottle. It's really great! :)
you should use a silk coat which you put on the bottom and also try some nail hardener and get a long lasting brand or a no chip brand thats what i use and i have had the nail polish on for about a month and with no chips or cracks.
You should start off by applying a base coat, then after you paint your nails, apply a good top coat. OPI top coat is what I use, and it dries pretty quick too.
put a base coat before the nail paint
then the nail paint
and then the top coat
also, try using nail polishes that have ENAMEL
Apply the colour you want, and once that's dry apply a layer of clear nail polish on top of that! :D
Hope it works for you! x
Apply 2 clear base coats, 1 white coat, regular polish, and two clear coats.
your local beauty supply store should nail an anti-chipping top coat. around 10 dollars.
you should put on a top coat every night or every other day to prolong your polish
sally hansen: hard as nails is really good and usually quite cheap too
put a coat of clear nail polish on top
